David Alejandro is an accomplished Achilles athlete who joined the CT Chapter in 2010. David lives life to the fullest and always looks at the glass half full. Since joining Achilles, he has participated in a duathlon, three sprint triathlons (Rye, NY and Madison CT), and a Half Ironman (New Hampshire). He has countless 5 and 10K’s under his belt, 2 Cheshire Half Marathons, 2 Iron Horse Half Marathons, 2 Hartford Marathons, and 3 New York City Marathons. And by the way, David is visually impaired! David is grateful for the many guides who have run or swam tethered to him, and who have helped him to achieve his goals and live out his dreams. David lives in Naugatuck with his wife Tracey, and their son and daughter.

At the end of 2013, Achilles CT had 39 registered athletes and 86 active guides/volunteers. Here is an overview of 2014 by numbers:

# of races: 21 in CT; 2 in NYC (Achilles Hope & Possibility and The TCS NYC Marathon) Total races=23
# of regions holding workouts: 4 (Shoreline West, Shoreline East, New Haven, Hartford/West)
# of corporate donations received: 6 (HJ Hoffman Co., Half Full Brewery, Gaylord Hospital, ESPN/Disney Ears To You Fund, Lincoln Financial Foundation, The McKeen Law Firm)
# of grants received: 3 (New Balance, The Gibney Family Foundation, The Salmon Foundation)
# of Cigna Healthy Lifestyles Grants Received: 3 Cigna employees submitted for a total of 28 races this year! Thank you Michael Lo Presti-19, Jeremy Byrne-6 and Jeff Amell-3!
# of Fundraisers: 3 with Fleet Feet Sports West Hartford, 3 with Fleet Feet Sports Stamford, 1 with Half Full Brewery, 1 for Hartford Marathon events, ongoing CT Road Safety Initiative fundraiser, YouCaring.com fundraiser, plus countless individual and group donations by cash/check Total fundraising events= 8

The second annual Vicki Soto 5K will be fun for the entire family. This family friendly
walk/run will take place through the picturesque Lordship section of Stratford, Vicki’s home town. In honor of Vicki’s passion for education, the Vicki Soto Memorial Fund has been established. The monies raised for this fund will be used to support students that desire to go into the field of education. Because of your love and support The Vicki Soto Memorial Fund Inc has awarded over Ten Thousand dollars in educational scholarship!!

We will not have pre-reg pickup the night before the event on OCT 31
The pick up location will be Stanziale’s Restaurant 595 Main Street Stratford CT
