CHAPTER EXECUTIVE TEAM:

Erin Spaulding, Director
connecticut@achillesinternational.org

Erin Spaulding is the current Director of the Achilles Connecticut Chapter. Starting as a volunteer leader in 2013, she began working for Achilles International part-time in 2014. In her role, she oversees Connecticut Chapter operations and liaises to headquarters in NYC.

Erin first joined Achilles in 2012 as an athlete, following a traumatic brain, neck, and shoulder injury she sustained in 2010. A life-long athlete, Erin was an avid runner and triathlete at the time of her accident. She used her determination as an athlete in her recovery to re-learn how to coordinate her walking, and later running. Joining Achilles International gave her back that piece of her life that she thought was gone forever. She became the Chapter Leader to show others that it IS possible to re-imagine and re-define your life due to injury and/or disability.

Her story and accomplishments with Achilles International have been featured in local and national media, in the Cigna GO YOU! campaign (The Road Home), and Runner’s World Magazine (June 2013). In 2015 she was named to the Aiello Inspiration Team for the Eversource Hartford Marathon & Half Marathon, where she walked the 5K a year after major hip surgery. Erin was also a finalist in Nike’s ‘Nominate Your Nike’, a recipient of the Frederick DeLuca Community Service Award (Subway), and a featured guest on Comcast Newsmakers.

Erin, her husband and three children live on the Shoreline and as a family, enjoy vacationing to Cape Cod, cheering for ALL the Boston sports teams (and UCONN basketball), and walking their doodle Charlie to the beach.

LyLy Hin, Vice President-Operations (Membership)
membership.ct@achillesinternational.org

LyLy joined the Achilles CT Chapter in 2016 after witnessing Achilles volunteers guiding athletes. After only a short time of being a guide, she felt she could offer more and volunteered as the Membership Coordinator. In 2022 LyLy took on the role of Vice President- Operations. She brings the passion of running and the need to help every day.

LyLy is an avid runner that has run many half and full marathons. She feels very blessed she can share her passion of running with those who might not have the ability to participate in events without assistance. LyLy is a proud mother of a teenage boy who also enjoys running. He runs on the high school cross country team and hopes to volunteer with his mother someday in future races. LyLy has a younger brother that is a Special Olympic participant and an avid athlete that loves to compete.

LyLy has been working in the disability insurance industry for over twenty years. This reminds her of the focus and the need to help others.  She enjoys traveling, golfing, and snowshoeing when she has free time. Family and friends help her to stay grounded.

Nicole Schreier, Vice President- Outreach & Engagement
community.ct@achillesinternational.org

Nicole Schreier joined Achilles in 2015 as a volunteer. She has always loved running and felt Achilles was the perfect way to combine her love of running and her desire to give back to the community. Nicole began getting more involved with the Chapter over the years, joining the Chapter’s Hope and Possibility race committee, organizing Charity volunteers for the Hartford Marathon, and then taking on a Board role on the membership team, where she served for several years.

After a brief hiatus, Nicole returned to the Executive Team in 2024. Nicole is a Senior Legal Operations Manager and lives in Hebron with her husband and daughter. When not exercising or acting as the family Uber service, you will find her with her nose in a book.

Tammy McKay, Chapter Treasurer
treasurer.ct@achillesinternational.org

Tammy became a guide for Achilles in 2019. Before having children, she coached a wheelchair sports team and later coached her kids at the parks and recreation level. As they transitioned into school sports, she wanted to return to coaching and found Achilles to be the perfect fit, combining her passion for running with giving back. However, when her schedule didn’t allow her to guide as much as she had hoped, she naturally sought other ways to contribute.

When she’s not running, Tammy enjoys knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, or reading. On weekends, she serves as a weekend puppy raiser for America’s VetDogs, helping train and socialize future service dogs for disabled veterans.

Swanson
Chief Motivational Officer

Swanson is the loyal, NEADS-trained service dog of Achilles CT athlete Stu Sherman.  She is a 13 year old yellow lab who is always by her dad’s side at workouts and races.  Swanson loves to help her dad with everyday tasks, and is the first one at the finish line to give him a congratulatory lick!  Swanson’s calm demeanor at our events (even in the wee hours before sunrise) brightens everyone’s day!
